About the Foundation

Mission

“To Introduce disenfranchised inner-city youth to workshops, seminars, and programs in the computer sciences and coding/programming. Our efforts serve as a catalyst to their entry into the field of study resulting in academic and professional success and socio-economic upward mobility” -Miosotis Cabrera

Our mission enables the organization to focus on a variety of activities and practices which allow us to build toward a goal. The continual goal of exposing children, teenagers, and young adults to the operation, use, and programming of computer hardware and software to break down the barriers that restrict their interest and entry into the computer sciences field.

Moreover, as we move toward this goal, we will see changes in the community and world through the entrance of disenfranchised youth into this industry paving the way for many others to enter.

Vision

“To bridge the socio-economic gap of inner–city disenfranchised youth by
providing extracurricular and support programs that will result in quality of life
improvements”

Our organizational vision is founded on the premise that lack of knowledge and exposure to computer sciences presents an obstacle to understanding and envisioning the opportunities and future of the computer sciences industry and its ability to provide socio-economic advancement for those who decide to enter this field of study. Many of the future job prospects in our nation will be in this industry and represent real opportunity to help move our society into the future using technology.

Our vision encompasses our desire to create opportunities in communities like Washington Heights, in New York’s upper Manhattan, where unemployment is three times the national average and where access to computer science training within the school system is limited. This is coupled with low family incomes that limit access to up to date technologies and exposure to career opportunities in the technology sectors of the economy. This industry provides high incomes for individuals entering into it as computer programmers, software designers, game designers, and computer technicians and builders. We feel a responsibility to connect our youth to these opportunities by introducing them to programming/coding and other computer sciences.
